Fatwood

Candle Wood brand fatwood fire starter sticks are imported by Interamerican Woods, Inc. of Eugene, Oregon. The fatwood is a product of Honduras.

We offer a variety of package sizes, and we can customize packaging for your company if you would like to market using a private label or other promotional features.

We have chosen the name Candle Wood for our fatwood lighter sticks because the name conveys the image of a product that lights easily and burns hot. Fatwood is a unique product of Mother Nature. Fatwood is recovered from the stumps of the Long Leaf Pitch Pine tree, many years after the trunk has been harvested for lumber. The tree naturally accumulates resins in the stump, which makes the wood very easy to light, and it burns very hot. There are no artificial additives or treatments applied to the fatwood we offer. In addition to our fatwood being completely natural, it is very stable, and it will not lose its desirable properties over time.

Harvesting fatwood from the stumps of the Long Leaf Pine tree does not contribute to the deforestation of lands, as the stumps are not suitable for the harvesting of lighter sticks for many years after the tree has been consumed. The Long Leaf Pine tree is not considered a rain forest species.

Fatwood is excellent for use as a fire starter in wood stoves, fireplaces, campfires, and charcoal grills. The procedure for using our fatwood is very simple. Each package contains an instruction sheet. Starting one fire requires two or three pieces of fatwood. Each pound of Candle Wood contains approximately 25 pieces of fatwood.

Interamerican Woods, Inc. has been importing fatwood from Honduras for over 25 years. We have built our reputation on quality products, excellent customer service, honest business dealing, and the delivery of real value.
